Satellite Attitude Control Magnetometer

This diploma thesis deals with design, implementation and testing of a three-channel fluxgate magnetometer, which applies to a satellite attitude control with regard to the increased radiation tolerance, including the implementation of the testing equipment and methods to identify causes of failures. As the task extension the construction of a step-down DC/DC converter from discrete semiconductor components was made. Developed systems were exposed to the 60Co gamma rays active source. Finally the parameter degradations are discussed.

Two magnetometers and some other electronics ready for gamma irradiation tests…
Fluxgate sensor head manufacturing…
Improvised datalogger and test-coil excitation signal source (to be able to access the properties of the magnetometer during the radiation testing..)
Test setup at the bottom of the irradiation chamber (sensor head in a test coil down-left from the electronics)
Datalogger and power sources with back-up in the control room…
Well, it survived some gamma, but not all of it 🙂
